Theme 6: Jan 25 - Dec 25. The availability of biobased resources has long been a subject of discussion. The question of whether we can produce enough biomass for food and the bioeconomy...
The B2BE Facilitator works on a different theme every six months to a year. These themes are chosen in consultation with the relevant actors from the primary sector and industry. For each theme, you can read about its objective, the obstacles that still need to be addressed, and the involved parties. Thanks to the constructive input from the spearhead clusters, knowledge institutions, pilot installations, and business organizations, we have already worked on themes such as 'valorization of dry crop residues,' 'use of biopesticides and biostimulants in agriculture,' 'stabilization and valorisation of green leaves,' 'specialty chemicals from local biomass,' 'processed locally: from biomass to biomass hubs,' and in the coming year, the B2BE Facilitator will focus on the theme 'Innovative biobased raw materials: engine of the bio-economy.' Theme 5: Jan 24 - Dec 24. The collection of locally available dry and wet biomass still presents many challenges. This is the conclusion that the B2BE Facilitator has drawn from previous themes...
Theme 4: Aug 23 - Dec 23. In many different biomass (residual) streams, by-products, and primary products, there are interesting structural and/or active components for the chemical sector.
Theme 3: Jan 23 - Aug 23. During harvest of agri- and horticultural crops, a significant amount of leaf and stem residues remain, such as beet leaves, tomato vines... How can we use these materials better?
Theme 2: May 22 - Dec 22. The new European directive on the sustainable use of pesticides has once again made the transition towards a biobased primary sector a hot topic.
Theme 1: Nov 21 - May 22 During harvesting and processing of arable and industrial crops such as flax, grain maize, wheat, and protein crops, dry crop residues (e.g., straw, flax shives, chaff...) are produced.
